Why Guatemala........
Some of you may be wondering why we are going to Guatemala since our primary focus is Eastern Europe. Well, a few months back I was asked by a dear friend who has been doing a lot of humanitarian work in Guatemala if Roma Boots would be willing to donate some rain boots to Guatemalan street children. Guatemala is one of the poorest countries in the world with a large population of street children living in a nightmare of devastating poverty. After seeing pictures of the the way these children live, my heart broke. As rain season starts and mud slides become the norm, rain mingles with volcanic ash and the feet of these children are exposed to the dangerous elements. The best solution is a pair of rain boots. While Eastern Europe continues to be our primary focus, we will gladly go anywhere else in the world where children have to suffer due to extreme poverty and horrible living conditions.
